The discounted units you see on Ebay are an older discontinued model that we no longer make. These older units were liquidated to second hand tool stores as is with no warranty implied. In order to received our full warranty you must purchase from an authorized dealer. You must show proof of purchase before any warranty issues will be honored.

The difference is quite large. The older model put out heat at 128 degrees 18 inches from the fireplace. Our new model puts out heat up to 177 degrees 18 inches from the fireplace. We only sell the new models to our customers.

Yes, the New 2007/2008 Model Fireplace Radiator™ is warranted through the manufacturer. All cast iron and sheet metal parts are warranted for 5 years. All electrical components have a 1 year warranty. You must send in your registration card within 10 days of receiving your purchase for your warranty to be effective. There is a very good reason why there isn't a thermal switch. The switch must be on the inside of the fireplace. Units that have a thermal switch also have the blower/fan box located on the inside of the fireplace. This means that the electrical power cord must be ran inside of the fireplace also. This can be very dangerous. Not to mention blower/fan boxes on the inside of fireplaces have shorter life spans because they get gummed up from ash and dust. In place of a thermal switch we recommend an outlet timer that plugs directly into your outlet. This is MUCH safer.

The slower the fan speed is, the hotter the air will be. In general, we recommend a medium to medium high speed.

In most cases you can use your existing glass doors and wire screen mesh. Most glass doors allow for some adjustment. The glass doors must be able to be raised up 1 1/8 inch so they can rest upon the front air diverter bar. This is very critical or the doors will have to be replaced.

We recommend using a shovel, from your fireplace tool set, to get most of the ashes from in between the pipes and around the outside of the pipes. Use the Radiator (plenum) as a back stop to help scoop the ashes on to the shovel. For a more thorough cleaning, use a shop vac for the final touches. The Front Air Diverter Bar rests flush up against the outside of your fireplace and does not interfere with the cleaning of your fireplace.

Since the fan box is designed to suck air in, it is relatively quiet. On the low speed you can hardly hear it and on the highest speed it is not overbearing at all. We did an audible test on the blower box. In a quiet room, motor on high, with the tester directly in front of the louver grill, we measured 80 to 82.5 db's. At 3 feet away we measured 51 to 53 db's. At 8 feet away it was less than 40 db's. The measuring device did not read below 40 db's. When we tested the motor on low speed, exactly same format, directly in front of louver grill was 49 to 53 db's and at 3 feet it was below 40 db's.

The power cord is approximately 6 1/2 ft. long. We can now customize your unit with a power cord up to 15 ft. long.

The air flowing through the Fireplace Radiator™ is positively charged, meaning that the air is pushed through the system not pulled through the system. This keeps smoke, fire, carbon monoxide and ashes from entering the system. Also, the pieces of the unit are designed to fit tightly together. As per the installation instructions, the pipe joints are sealed with furnace cement. With all of these elements working together, your fireplace will be much more efficient.

The Fireplace Radiator™ only comes in black. However, it can be painted to your desired color. We recommend using a high temperature paint. Be sure not to spray paint inside the fan unit itself.
